WikiTranslation.org

WikiTranslation is a wiki project where you can receive free human translations. A community of volunteer bilinguals (not necessarily professional translators) will translate a phrase or a short text for you.

Though unregistered users can both request translations and translate phrases available for translation, it is better to register so as not to go through an anti-spam procedure each time you use the site.

In addition, as a registered user, you can vote on suggested translations in the languages you know. The registered users get points for their activities: signing up (100 points), translating, voting on translations, and selecting the best translation. Asking questions costs 3 points. It's that simple.

The WikiTranslation website (www.wikitranslation.org) supports more than 25 language pairs.

Since this translation service is free, don't expect to get your translations quickly each and every time. Another disadvantage is that you can't request long translations. This is obvious from the translation requests posted on the website.

Also, you can't be 100 percent sure that the translation you get will work for you. Even for short translations, it is sensible to use a paid professional translation service, if the translation can impact your company's image, reputation, or can have legal or financial consequences for you.

However, the BIG advantage of the WikiTranslation project is that you can get translations by humans, not machines, for free. Furthermore, if you know foreign languages, you can help others with translations and promote your mother tongue as a volunteer translator.
